The Financial Reporting Analyst provides scheduled financial reports, data analysis and dashboard solutions to Finance Department personnel and other designated staff. The Financial Analyst will also provide general support with day-to-day finance operations, business processes and related technology improvements.

Essential Functions

  1. Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and analyses using the Aderant financial system, Excel pivot tables, Power BI, and SSRS reports, verifying that values in all reports are accurate by checking against other sources and considering reasonableness.
  2. Balance all system accounts daily, verifying that values in all Aderant modules and dashboards are accurate by checking against other sources and considering reasonableness.
  3. Work with end users to provide ad-hoc data analysis and client-facing reports in a timely manner.
  4. Collaborate with the Director of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer to evaluate the profitability of matters, clients, and practice groups.
  5. Collaborate with attorneys to design individual matter budgets and assist with pricing and profitability projections for new matters.
  6. Provide reporting and analysis support for Finance Department personnel, including billing, eBilling, pricing, accounts payable, general ledger, and trust.
  7. Apply knowledge of accounting applications, SQL queries and VBA to design application customizations and reporting tools, as well as automate processes that are currently performed manually.
  8. Assist with data validation for financial systems upgrades/enhancements/projects.
  9. Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  1. Expert level skills in Microsoft Excel, including, but not limited to pivot tables and v/x lookups
  2. SQL programming experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment, including creating stored procedures
  3. Ability to identify ways to solve problems, improve processes and improve efficiencies
  4. Experience with Aderant

Supervisory Role


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment with some ability to work from home. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Because this position will be handling client information, employees must work from a home office and not a public location during any remote periods.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires extended hours and weekend work. Some flexibility in hours is allowed.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in finance, business, accounting, or related field. Two to four years of experience in financial or data analysis.

Preferred Education and Experience

Law firm or other professional services firm experience.
