Job Title: Billing Manager

Location: NY – 1 New York Plaza

Role Summary: Seeking a results-driven Billing Manager to lead our billing team and operations, enhancing our billing systems with a focus on modernization and alignment with our firm’s financial goals and client satisfaction. The candidate will ensure Aderant and Bill Blast billing processes are efficient, transparent, and cater to multi-party client needs, implementing strategies for consistent improvement and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop strategies to improve the client billing experience, integrating feedback from key stakeholders.

• Collaborate with attorneys and outside legal departments to align billing practices with firm standards and client expectations.

• Proactively reduce billing errors, prevent late invoicing, and ensure accurate capture of billable time and expenses.

• Utilize billing automation tools such as BillBlast and Aderant to merge client payment histories and billing details, improving transparency for stakeholders.

• Redistribute team workloads to maintain high performance and efficiency, establishing contingency plans for coverage.

• Implement quality control software and KPIs to ensure billing accuracy, minimize rejections, and establish backup systems.

• Monitor and guide the adjustment of client billing rates and billing agreements.

• Provide detailed financial analysis, ensuring accurate client ledger reporting and forecasting for billing and accounts receivable.

• Employ data analytics to streamline billing cycles and reduce discrepancies.

• Create process steps for the billing department’s daily activities, ensuring adherence to client billing guidelines and best practices.

• Drive process improvements and set measurable goals for the billing department, ensuring achievements exceed these goals.

• Lead staff training and development to enhance expertise and proficiency in billing processes.

• Systematically evaluate staff performance, focusing on optimization, efficiency, and increased use of software automation.

• Maintain current knowledge of billing regulations and multi-party Insurance e-billing compliance requirements.

• Conduct regular meetings to discuss challenges, share best practices, and develop long-term efficiency strategies.

• Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the billing team.

Qualifications:

• Proven track record in billing management with a focus on modernization and process improvement.

• Proficiency in billing software and systems, particularly Excel,  Aderant and Bill Blast.

• Strong analytical skills and experience with financial reporting and data analysis.
