JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Person needs to be local - 1st three months fully in office with a possibility of hybrid- 2 days from home in the future
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produces and processes accurate pre-bills and billings (invoices) for multiple attorneys
- Books write-offs
- Creates and posts general journal entries
- Analyzes general ledger accounts and prepares correcting entries
- Performs payroll entry uploads and ensures that payroll is recorded correctly
- Performs Accounts Payable vendor uploads and ensures correctness
- Backup for reconciling credit card transactions (daily) and uploads monthly; ensures compliant usage of credit cards
- Reconciles all bank accounts daily and monthly
- Enters all soft costs (bulk copies and postage)
- Performs Trust account bank reconciliations and monthly/quarterly required forms for NC Bar
- Assists Conflict Coordinator with closing matters and clients as needed
- Performs special projects for Accounting Manager and Controller as needed
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Aderant, law firm or e-billing experience preferred, but not necessary – the firm will train.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all company and client matters.
- Basic understanding of accounting including debits and credits.
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail, have strong math and financial skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a trusted teammate.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and portray the firm’s professional image consistently.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone
- Follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and legal professionals and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Work can require more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position;
May require irregular hours
Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, printer, check scanner and photocopiers.
Must be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must have a valid driver license.

Required Education and Experience:
An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business or Finance with 3-5 years of general ledger experience preferred.
