On November 6th Aderant Expert 8.0 SP3 was released.

This is a significant release for the Expert product line as it includes a number of exciting new features to key modules, such as Time – including On the Go and Found Time – Expenses, and new advanced dashboard and monitoring features in the MatterWorks solution. The product teams worked very closely with the Expert User Community on this release, and we would like to thank our clients for their time, insight and enthusiasm.

Highlights include:

Significant enhancements to Time, On the Go Time and Found Time:


  • Firm and user-specific options for the timer views improve the overall user experience for managing and organizing timers.
  • Enhanced capabilities in timesheet, spreadsheet and calendar views promote more rapid entry and editing of time.
  • Expanded functionality in the Found Time application to allow for improved review, management and analysis of Found Time activities.
  • A refreshed user interface for On the Go Time and new capabilities further simplify the creation and editing of time from mobile devices.
  • Ensure compliance with client billing arrangements at the point of time entry with additional e-billing attributes.

A series of new Expense features including:


  • Firm-paid credit card distribution and reconciliation and the ability to request, approve and manage employee advances
  • Flexible, automated approvals based on firm-defined rules pertaining to expense type, thresholds, approvers and more
  • Enhanced Accounts Payable functionality for direct reimbursement of employee expenses

New MatterWorks capabilities providing clear, actionable data:


  • A new “My Forecasts” group provides individual users with an at-a-glance overview of their matter forecasts and budgets, efficiently highlighting significant issues.
  • New financial metrics—including margin percentage, leverage, profit per partner hour and revenue per lawyer—deliver greater insight into matter profitability.
  • Expanded unique health assessment protocol, which assesses items as Healthy, Monitor or At Risk, allows users to select a full range of specific metrics for assessment and assign an importance level to each metric.
