Practice Technology Analyst
The Hartford office of Shipman & Goodwin LLP, a law firm with more than 175 attorneys in CT, NY and DC, is seeking a Practice Technology Analyst. The Practice Technology Analyst (PTA) is responsible for supporting the applications and technology needs of the Practice groups and the Administrative Support areas. The candidate will work with other IS staff members to implement, update, maintain and troubleshoot applications specific to the practice and administrative functions. Also, in coordination with the Practice Technology Manager, the Practice Technology Analyst is responsible for researching, identifying and recommending new applications and support technologies through networking and attendance at various industry and other affiliations.
It is essential that the PTA be familiar with a broad cross-section of legal and financial applications, including time entry, calendaring/docketing and case management, as well as such technical tools as SQL, Visual Basic/VBA and MS Office, particularly Access and Excel. The ability to identify and implement process and workflow improvements for increased efficiency is also important.
The successful candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communications skills, be a pro-active starter with emphasis on self-initiation and follow-through, and be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. In addition, the candidate must have strong data analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and report on information with attention to detail and accuracy, and must have an understanding of data integrity between systems.
Specifically, the successful candidate must have SQL Server expertise, including T-SQL, stored procedures and data modeling; at least 2 years of experience in supporting financial accounting systems; and experience in creating Visual Basic/VBA macros and code snippets.
A Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science or information management or related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of relevant experience in a legal or professional services organization.
