BASIC FUNCTION:

The Financial Systems Analyst's primary responsibility is to administer, support and enhance the time entry, billing and accounting systems and subsystems of the business, specifically Aderant Expert, and to act as the key liaison between the IT, Finance, the overall business, system vendors, and third-party suppliers.  Assist with large-scale data updates; annual automated billing runs; and bulk email from accounting systems.  Play a key role in the software upgrade cycle of the Aderant Expert system and any associated financial system.

The Financial Systems Analyst role reports directly to the Group Reporting Manager within the IT team, but will be required to work with other IT teams, Finance, Operations and all other areas of the business to ensure the Aderant Expert system is correctly configured and maintained.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of time entry, billing and accounting systems and subsystems, including but not limited to Aderant Expert
  • Keep current with the latest developments relevant to time entry, billing and accounting systems and advise on possible changes to procedures and practices
  • Key liaison between IT, Finance, Operations and other areas of the business, and the system vendors and third-party suppliers, taking end-to-end ownership of support issues
  • Plan and coordinate all phases of upgrades to time entry, billing and accounting systems including scoping, project plans, milestone setting, UAT testing plans, and liaison with vendors and third-party suppliers
  • Responsible for creation of key time entry, billing and accounting system setups including: creation of new entities and related accounts; creation of rate sets and time revaluation as necessary; undertake system balancing tasks, including investigation and resolution of unbalanced transactions; and assist with annual billing runs
  • Creation of SQL scripts for ad-hoc data extracts
  • Assist with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) administration and some report-writing with SSRS
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant IT policies and procedures
  • Undertake other duties that might be reasonably required for this role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Solid understanding and technical knowledge of accounting systems and subsystems (preferably Aderant Expert, 3E, or similar financial platform)
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles/techniques with experience of working in roles spanning both IT and Finance disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems
  • Ability to conduct research into IT issues and products
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Energy and enthusiasm to support to the future growth and success of the business

         DESIREABLE:

  • Understanding and technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Interest in systems integration techniques
